Tunbridge Wells Shopmobility gets new equipment
The Tunbridge Wells Shopmobility scheme will receive three new mobility scooters today thanks to a grant of £2,885 from the Barchester Healthcare Foundation.
Councillor Mike Rusbridge, the Mayor of Tunbridge Wells, will be attending a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Shopmobility centre in Royal Victoria Place Shopping Centre at 1pm, to mark the new additions.
The benefactor of the new scooters, the Barchester Healthcare Foundation, supports practical solutions and schemes that lead to increased personal independence, self-sufficiency and dignity for people with disabilities across England, Scotland and Wales.
The town’s Shopmobility service has also received an £18,000 grant from Tunbridge Wells Borough Council this year.
Tunbridge Wells Shopmobility is open Monday to Saturday and gives people with mobility problems better access to the Town Centre by allowing them to hire-out manual wheelchairs, powered chairs and scooters.
